Sewing for kids: Baby dress and bloomers

Sometimes sewing works.  Sometimes sewing does NOT work and it involves a lot of swearing and a lot of unpicking.  This was one of those projects.  It actually wasn't that complicated, and if you are fine with techniques such as gathering, using bias binding and doing elastic casings, it is a lovely little outfit for a little girl.  My pattern is an ancient McCall's one which I inherited from my friend's mum. Someone I never met, actually, but she kind of lives on in her sewing patterns, I guess.

This is for my cousin's child.  Main fabric from Japan, spot fabric from when the Lincraft in my 'hood closed down.
