Low-fi activities with kids: planting cress

At one of the many amazing National Trust properties we visited while in the UK, Little Miss O received a packet of cress seeds in her kids' lunch box.  We brought them home and planted some on cotton wool.  Little Miss O has them on the table where she sits for meals and has been keeping a watchful eye on them as they grow.  She has been carefully sprinkling them with water to keep them moist and is excited about putting them on her salad.  The fact that Milly Molly Mandy also grew cress is an added bonus. The more green stuff I can get her to eat, the happier I am.  A simple and healthy summer holiday activity.
